Klemtu flight in on a sunny day

Jan 17th my second flight in to Klemtu offered up the kind of weather that makes the reputation of the Central coast of BC as one of the most beautiful places in the world. As I am flying in to start my new job with the Kitasoo Band Council as controller for the village of Klemtu, I take this as a GOOD OMEN!

one of my fellow passengers looks east towards Ocean Falls

Looking west over Swindle Island

Flying north, Klemtu is just west of the high island just off the nose of the Beaver. It is known locally as "China Hat" island because of its shape.

looking north over the Inside Passage, a protected (from the Pacific Ocean's winds and waves) course way that takes shipping to Alaska and beyond

Looking to the left of China Hat island you can just make out Klemtu at the window divider of the Beaver

Looking down at the nearing completion $25 million dollar BC Ferry docks just three kms north of Klemtu

taxiing across Trout Bay the harbour of Klemtu looking south at the beach of the ceremonial Long House and large canoe that was a gift from the RCMP

Looking at part of South Klemtu - the site of the first vilalge in 1832

Tom pulls the Beaver in to the float

Rebecca, our fantastic pilot (just see her smiling face in the upper corner of the window) heads for the return flight to Bella Bella

Doesn't get better than this does it? We'll find out!!!! :))
