Sunday Morning Klemtu Dec 4 2011

Sunday morning on the way to the office I took an hour and made a few images in the morning sunrise. Little dog Hanna kept me company for a while.

three whales feeding at mouth of Trout Bay, Klemtu - right in harbour

Saturday afternoon Oct 22 three Humpback whales treated the village to a display of "bubbling" right at the entrance to Trout Bay, around which the village is situated. We stood on the pier and watched as the whales swam back and forth, dove, blew their bubbles to concentrate the Krill, and then rose up through the herded feed with their mouths open. One can predict where the whales will break through the surface by the seagulls that concentrate over the rising bubbles.

This display continued all afternoon and ended only when individual witnesses tired of standing through the rain showers.

Three Klemtu Mornings

late November weather has been very dramatic - changing every ten minutes - snow, rain, sun, hail, rainbows, high winds. Flying in and out has been very sketchy.
this was an early morning snowfall - you can just see my reflection in the window.
some mornings we have had freezing rain
My Jeep and my Klemtu House

These two shots were taken on a rare sunny break in the morning.

This shot was actually taken this evening during what I have learnt what are called "Clam Tides" because they come in so very high - and then, of course they go out very low for finding clams.
